Food / drink 🍗 The crock pot/slow-cooker thread

We use our Crock Pot all the time.

Last week I used it to make french onion soup on Monday and then Wednesday we made a pot roast and yesterday I used it to make some "pub cheese" dip for big soft pretzels and stuff while we watched football and relaxed during the day.

I've got a potato and leek soup going in it right now for dinner this evening.

Soups in particular are great in the Crock Pot. So many recipes want you to make the soup in a big pot on the stove top in 20 or 30 minutes or whatever but I've never made a soup that wasn't better slow cooked for 5+ hours.

Chicken tacos are another thing that's great in the slow cooker and that's probably one of the easiest things to make in there. It usually takes longer to shred the chicken thighs at the end than it does to do any of the other steps.

A few years ago I made a really good chocolate lava cake in the crock pot but then I lost the recipe. I need to find that and try making it again...

It's Crock Pot Season!!!

I've used my smaller one for some thick soups this fall, and each came out tasty. One did come out a bit thinner than expected, but I'm more concerned about flavor than consistency.

Cold weather = more crock pot usage!
