Travel ✈️ 2025 Travel Plans - Far and Away

Off-topic: Someone actually used the tramway smiley. I removed it a couple of weeks ago when I was getting rid of some older, unused smileys, updating some others, and adding some new ones. The tramway emoji is supposedly one of the least used in texting and tweets.

Going to Vegas in February 2025 with the wife and another couple.
Vegas trip is coming up in a couple of weeks, arriving on 2/13 and leaving 2/16. We're just going to wing it as far as going to shows and what not. I'll probably do a little bit of gambling but nothing crazy.

Wife and I are now going to Fort Meyers Beach in September. Friends of ours own two timeshare units at a condo along the beach so we're using one of them while they're down there. I guess the resorts been closed since 2022 Hurricane Ian. We've been to Tampa/Clearwater before but this will be the furthest down the coast we've traveled.

Leaving for Vegas tomorrow for three nights back. No plans while we're there just going to wing it.

Pretty sure we're going to end up going to Punta Cana the week of July 4th.

Have a week booked at Mai Tiki Resort in August.

Heading to Vegas next month. Booking a food tour and one fancy dinner; otherwise, nothing set in stone.

Still haven't decided on a summer trip location. I'm thinking urban location, lots of walking, local transit options.

I'm going to the family thing. My folks are now elderly. I want to visit them while I still can. I also need to visit my daughter and grand daughter.

We're going to Vegas too for our Spring Break.

Hanging around the Strip, visit Pinball Museum, Shelby Collection, tour the Hoover Dam, spend the day in Valley of Fire State Park...get the non-gambling/drinking Vegas/southern NV experience.

Then we can cross NV off our list and even technically AZ since when we're at Hoover Dam we'll walk over the state line.

Yes, but you won't see the whole dam state. Also keep your eye out for the goats - actually big horn sheep - up on the mountains near the dam.

We've decided to go to colonial Williamsburg this summer. Any suggestions where to stay?

I toured the dam back before 9-11. Lots of interesting stuff in the behind-the-scenes that I'm not sure they allow visitors to see anymore.

Looks like we're going to do a food tour at lunchtime. Yum!

We're going to Houston in March for the Rodeo and to visit family and friends. We don't have plans for summer yet, but need to start figuring it out.

We're talking about doing Disney World in October for fall break. My wife is dreading it, but our youngest has never been and she'll be 10 soon. I'd like to do it before the "magic" is gone. She's been asking about it a lot lately because a bunch of her friends have gone over the last year.

I wonder what it means when my wife sends me a text of a treehouse resort web site, along with the number "2027."

Anyone speak Wife?

Jim
I picking up 3 things:
1. She wants to go to a resort with or without a treehouse in 2027.
2. She wants you to build a treehouse by 2027.
3. She just misses the kids and wants to make new ones in a treehouse in 2027.
Who was watching reruns of the TV show Treehouse Masters?

Fun fact: I had a brief appearance on "Hotel Impossible" about halfway through its run. That was me in the bellman uniform, pushing an empty cart in the background.

2025 plans are staring to solidify - Bahamas in early May, then Scotland and Ireland at some point during the summer.
Make that late August/early September for Scotland and Ireland (and possibly a few hours in England). Less than two weeks away from sitting on a beach in the Bahamas for a few days - combine that with work travel, though, and I'll probably have to deal with navigating ATL (the world's busiest airport!!1!) something like 10 times in a six-week span. Yippee.

Our 2025 plans have gone awry. We had an awesome bucket list trip in March. But our June trip to Iceland is likely not gonna happen. And currently no other trips planned. 😲 Gotta figure some stuff out.

Just returned from Madison, WI where I attended the International Trails Summit.

We did lock in our trip to Punta Cana for the 4th of July week. Us, our daughters and two other tagalongs.

Travel plans are always in flux. The Mrs. employer is moving to a new building so they have been told no vacation in July. Has a week off in June which was to be the time we go see my parents but that may be medically occupied. The youngest dumped his dirt bike on Easter and tore his coracoacromial ligament. Now needs surgery but did play drums with his band yesterday. Go figure. Wants to play a gig with his band and be able to finish up a welding project so he wants to delay surgery. That would but him in June of Mrs. STTG vacation week. I may just fly up to see my parents since others will likely no be able. Other child is getting married in August so he needs to save PTO.

No travel for me this year after trips east (in '23) and west (in '24). Plus, I've got minor surgery planned for mid-July so I'll be staycationing this year. I'm okay with that ....

Made some decisions this weekend. Still have more to make.

Jan: Paris; Austria
March: Paradise
May: Austria
June: Iceland/TBD??
July: US
October: Italy
November: Black Forest
December: US

When are you moving back?

Scotland and Ireland at some point during the summer.
Last week of August/first week of September, respectively. Mrs. Bubba has a work connection in Dublin who has been sending her a bunch of suggestions on the non-touristy things to check out there.

After getting laid off, our travel plans changed.

We did a short cruise out of Miami in May, and damn was it fun but hot!

Right now I'm in Switzerland with my sister. We spent 3 days in Interlaken, and the remaining days of my vacation we're staying at her place. Weather has been great so far!
Here's Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe! Great views, but warning: altitude sickness is a real thing. And if you're claustrophobic, the long tunnel on the train will not be pleasant.

Lufthansa and Eurowings has a cool feature called, "Blind Booking". Basically you tell them what airport you want to fly out from, select a list of potential destinations, provide a date range for travel, and the number of travelers. Based upon those factors they give you a price for flights that meet your criteria. You then choose whether or not to accept it. If you accept it, you don't find out the location until after you have booked and paid. No givebacks.

Itty Bitty and I have done it twice. We got Zagreb the first time and Krakow the second.

Itty Bitty and I are thinking of trying it again for her fall break. Big money, no whammies.
