I used to love Mountain Dew but I cannot do the Dew anymore... unless I'm eating Taco Bell. For some reason, if I get Taco Bell, I have to have Mountain Dew; even better if they have the Mountain Dew Baja Blast slush drink. But I only go to Taco Bell once every few years so it's not often.
The last time I tried a can or bottle of Mountain Dew I think I drank about a quarter of it before throwing it away. I cannot get past the chemical taste anymore. When I was like 18 and 19, my typical Friday night would be sitting in my barracks with a case of Mountain Dew, a giant bag of Doritos, a cheesesteak sandwich and playing Golden Eye on the Nintendo64 all night long!
Both parents drank coffee all day every day. Dad actually said he didn't know how I would graduate from college & not drink coffee (I drank Pepsi instead).
Switched over to diet MtnDew for a long time, drinking 3 or 4 20 ozers a day or more. Stopped that probably 5 years ago and now I drink 1/2&1/2 tea (regular tea - sweet tea - is diabetic coma inducing drink in the south).
My parents are the same way: As long as I can remember there was a fresh pot of coffee on the counter all day every day. My mom is in her early 80s and my dad is close to 90 and they still go through a few pots of coffee a day (always black). A couple years ago I signed them up for a coffee delivery service where they get coffee beans from all over the world a few times each month and my mom always calls me up with a report on how good a particular delivery was or wasn't. My parents are very easy going people but they will judge you harshly if they show up at your house and you haven't offered them coffee within the first 2 minutes of them coming through the door.
Even though they drank so much coffee when we were growing up, I don't think any of my brothers or sisters really took it up like they did. I remember coming home on leave from the Marines and my dad being surprised that I wasn't just guzzling down coffee. He said that when he was in the service decades earlier, coffee was like the lifeblood of the troops!
These days, I like to walk to Starbucks early in the morning once or twice a week to buy an iced coffee and nurse it throughout the day. When I remember to buy my own beans, I'll also brew my own. When it's colder out, I will occasionally use the Keurig to make myself a cup of hot coffee but I load that up with sugar and cream.
I don't think either of my brothers drink coffee and one of my sisters likes the occasional frappuccino, but that's about it.
